Why?

Casting Agenda vs. spreadsheets, email and WhatsApp

A WhatsApp from a casting agency about an option, an email confirming a shoot day, a separate Excel file with your fees — sound familiar? As soon as you work with several casting agencies, it all gets muddled very quickly. The result: double bookings, missed payments and forgotten shoot days.

Why separate systems don’t work

  • Spreadsheets — you have to fill in and update everything yourself, there’s no link to your calendar, no automatic reminders, and one wrong cell makes your whole overview unreliable
  • Email — important details (location, fee, time) are scattered across separate messages among dozens of other emails, with no central overview
  • WhatsApp — lightning fast for making arrangements, but messages scroll out of view and an address from three weeks ago is almost impossible to find when you need it again

What Casting Agenda does instead

  • One option, all the details in one place — production, status, agency, one or more dates, time, location, role, type of role (extra, featured extra, small speaking role or other), broadcaster, broadcast date, fee, notes and your quitclaims, all on one screen
  • Colour-coded monthly calendar — see at a glance which days are confirmed, which options are still open and which productions are already done
  • Sortable overview — filter by upcoming or completed, search by title, agency, location or role, see a coloured dot per option showing the type of role you entered, and tick off payments without opening the option
  • Dashboard — choose a year or all years and see your earnings per month, what you’re still owed (with a nudge when payments are late), your upcoming shoot days (with a warning for double bookings), what’s on TV soon, what’s still to air, what you’ve earned per casting agency, your productions per broadcaster, how your work is split between extra work, featured extra work and small speaking roles, how visible you were, a map of your locations, and a list of details you can still fill in. The filter buttons (Money, Planning, Broadcasts, Insights) show only what’s relevant to that question
  • Broadcast dates found for you — if an option has no broadcast date yet, the app looks it up on The Movie Database (only the title is sent). A date you enter yourself is never overwritten
  • Automatic reminders — an email before your shoot day (the day before by default, adjustable per option) and, if you switch them on, push notifications the day before and an hour before your call time
  • iCal sync — your shoot days and broadcasts appear automatically in Apple Calendar, Google Calendar or Outlook
  • Share your availability — a link where casting agencies can instantly see when you’re available, booked or unavailable, without endless back-and-forth messages and without any productions or titles
  • Location map — all your filming locations clearly laid out on an interactive map
  • Quitclaims with your option — up to 10 files stored per option, instead of lost in an email attachment
  • Import & export — import everything in one go from an existing Excel or CSV file, or export as CSV or Excel
  • Private — only you have access to your data, unlike a shared file or a WhatsApp group
